{"id":81053,"date":"2022-10-19T03:36:41","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T03:36:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalroadtechnology.com\/\/?p=81053"},"modified":"2023-06-27T06:56:45","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T06:56:45","slug":"tungsten-yield-at-mt-carbine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalroadtechnology.com\/tungsten-yield-at-mt-carbine\/","title":{"rendered":"New technology increases tungsten yield at Mt Carbine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subject to environmental approvals, Mt Carbine waste dumps in Far North Queensland will soon be yielding tungsten concentrate, one of the world\u2019s critical minerals, by making use of XRT Sorting advanced technology<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> p<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rocessing methods.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mt Carbine deposit is largely unexplored, after being a major producer of <a href=\"https:\/\/globalroadtechnology.com\/\/tungsten-mining-in-australia\/\">tungsten<\/a> in the 19870\u2019s and \u201980s, and was purchased by EQ Resources in June 2019. EQ, formerly Specialty Metals International Ltd, has partnered with German-based CROMINET to extract the metal with an aim to become one of Australia\u2019s prime tungsten producers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CROMINET has contributed by upgrading and recommissioning the tungsten processing plant on site, expanding to 300K tonnes per annum (TPA) capacity. Pilot \u2018sensor-based sorting technology\u2019 offers a greatly increased upgrade of feedstock for the plant with purchase orders for road base and aggregates from the by-product supplying extra revenue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The waste dump yield is expected to reach 1 million tonnes per annum, which will add to the high-grade tungsten envelopes the company\u2019s geological team has identified over a 1.2km strike from historical assay results and the \u2018evaluation of underground development of narrow high-grade mine to extract \u2018King-Vein\u2019 style mineralisation\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EQ\u2019s partner in the Mt Carbine project, CROMINET, are specialist in obtaining high-quality products from recyclable metallic materials. They use a variety of techniques to work with scrap metal and drilling, metal, and industrial sludge for the benefit of producers and users. Their expertise covers pure metals, ferroalloys, processed steel, scrap metal to superalloy scrap.
