This year\u2019s two-day WA Mining Conference and Exhibition will be kicking off on the\u00a0<\/span>12<\/span>th<\/span> of October at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre with a theme of digital advances and potential in the industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will showcase the latest \u2018technical and digital innovations across the entire mining value chain\u2019<\/span> at the free-to-attend expo that is an integral part of the conference. The expo provides mining operators with an unbeatable opportunity to meet leading industry suppliers and vendors who can display and demonstrate their products to a wide range of buyers under one roof.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over ninety exhibitors will be present with products that are advancing the mining industry and making mining production safer, energy saving and more efficient.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference features forty-two speakers with a wide range of expertise and knowledge. <\/span>Keynote speakers for the first day of the conference are Leon Cosgrave from Epiroc with a presentation about d<\/span>igital, enterprise, and automation in<\/span> mining, and Dr Ross Lambie, chief economist from the Mineral Council of Australia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The second-day keynote speakers will be Michelle Ash, <\/span>technology executive at Oz Minerals <\/span>and Peta Chirgwin, a mining automation consultant who will be talking about how the digital world is changing training for the workforce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme of digital and technological innovation is carried throughout the conference with presentations on critical minerals<\/a>; the future of the industry; and autonomous systems. <\/span>The conference will host round tables, panel discussions and presentations. <\/span>Topics include decarbonisation of projects and best practice ESG solutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex Bertram from Edna Ventures bills himself as a pragmatic technologist and industry advisor and is part of a panel leading a discussion on \u2018enhancing business decision-making processes through the implementation of digitalisation, and data-driven technologies. He is joined by a global leader in integrated project controls software, Rob Bryant, Kylah Morrison an engineer and leader in business improvement, and Michelle Ash.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The honourable Bill Johnson WA Minister, Mines and Petroleum, Energy, Corrective Services and Industrial Relations will be presenting the opening ministerial address. Minister Johnson has been a minister for the McGowan Labor government since 2017 and has successfully reduced red tape for mining, and introduced the Work Health and Safety bill<\/a> which strengthened safety on sites and has contributed to the revolution of Western Australia\u2019s energy system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
