{"id":73918,"date":"2015-08-10T13:31:33","date_gmt":"2015-08-10T13:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fabricdigital.com.au\/grt\/?p=73918"},"modified":"2019-06-06T04:35:48","modified_gmt":"2019-06-06T04:35:48","slug":"grt-scientist-discusses-breakthrough-australasian-polymer-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalroadtechnology.com\/grt-scientist-discusses-breakthrough-australasian-polymer-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"GRT senior research scientist discusses breakthrough at 35th Australasian Polymer Symposium on the Gold Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Global Road Technology\u2019s senior research scientist presented an abstract to 250 professionals at the 35th Australasian Polymer Symposium on Monday.<\/h3>\n<p>Dr Babak Abtahi focused on the polymers used for <a href=\"https:\/\/globalroadtechnology.com\/\/applications\/soil-stabilization\/\">soil stabilization<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/globalroadtechnology.com\/\/applications\/soil-erosion-controls\/\">erosion control<\/a>, polymer interaction mechanisms, and recent breakthroughs in GRT\u2019s state of the art chemistry and geotechnical laboratories during his guest speaking role at the four-day event, held at the Gold Coast\u2019s QT Hotel, July 12-15.<\/p>\n<p>His presentation described the problem that underlies evaluation of correlations between civil engineering and polymer science terms, which is extremely common in science. \u201cWe observe an association, or correlation, between two or more variables. However, correlation does not imply necessarily causation\u201d. Abtahi said. \u201cMoreover, working with industry creates the challenges of understanding and interpreting second languages. The solution is to establish scientific explanation for results in the way to connect the two sciences.
